The current Manchester City manager led his compatriot between 2008 and 2012 at the Camp Nou.
Pep Guardiola, Manchester City manager, praised the possible arrival of his compatriot Xavi Hernandez to the bench of FC Barcelona and said he has “no doubt that he is ready for the job.”
The one who was a Barcelona player and who was under Guardiola’s orders in the most successful recent period of the Blaugrana club, is the best positioned to replace Ronald Koeman, dismissed this week after the loss against Rayo Vallecano.
“Ronald and I know that we depend and live on the results,” Guardiola said at a press conference this Friday. “No one can survive without results, neither Ronald nor me. He is a great friend and I wish him the best ”.
The Spanish coach was asked by Xavi, with whom he shared a dressing room when they were both players and when Sampedor’s coach led the Blaugranas between 2008 and 2012.
“I don’t know what will happen to Xavi, but if it does happen in the end, I have no doubt that he is ready for this job. He knows the game, he has passion and I am sure he has more experience now than I did when I took office back in the day.”, Guardiola affirmed.
For now, Barcelona has signed and presented Sergi Barjuan as an interim coach, waiting for Xavi to arrive. (D)
