Magdalena Fręch loses in the 1/32 final of Indian Wells. The Czech woman did not give her a chance
Fręch entered the tournament as a “lucky loser” in qualifying after injured Barbora Krejcikowa withdrew from the tournament. In the first round, Mayar Sherif (67th WTA) from Egypt unexpectedly coped with no problems. However, she turned out to be an insurmountable rival to the world-wide Vondrousov.
The Czech woman dominated the Polish woman and it took just over an hour to win the game. In the first set, Vondrousov broke Fręch four times, leading at one point 5: 0. Fręch played badly, scoring only one point out of 13 after the second serve. In the second set the game was more even, it started with the Czech losing the game. Fręch, however, did not take advantage of the advantage and lost the service gem twice. Ultimately, the second set ended with a 6: 3 victory for Vondrousowa.
In the 1/16 final, Czech will face the winner of the pair Kucova – Kontaveit. The Estonian Kontaveit is the tournament four. The failure of Fręch means that the only Pole left in the tournament. Already on Sunday at 20:00 the fourth world rocket will play against Danish Clara Tauson (44th).
