The Telegraph: sanctions imposed on Abramovich could lead to bankruptcy of Chelsea
Sanctions imposed on Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich could lead to the bankruptcy of the English Premier League (EPL) club Chelsea. This became known to The Telegraph.
Chelsea have warned the UK government that the effect of the sanctions is jeopardizing the club’s ability to complete the current season, the source said. At the same time, it is noted that the club is ready to wait with the sale until the end of next week, which means that it is able to fulfill its obligations.
The club also said that they are allowed to spend £500,000 on the match, with a standard spending of £800m. Chelsea believe that they will not be able to provide security and food in some sectors of the stadium and will probably close them.
On March 2, it became known that Abramovich intends to sell Chelsea. Before that, he transferred direct control of the club to the trustees of the Chelsea charitable foundation.
