Rangers goaltender Shesterkin scores first career NHL point
Russian goaltender “New York Rangers” Igor Shesterkin scored the first scoring point in his career in the National Hockey League (NHL). It is reported by TASS.
The Russian scored an assist in the away match against the St. Louis Blues. In the 19th minute of the meeting, he made a pass to Ryan Strome, who hit the opponent’s goal.
The effective action of the goalkeeper did not help the team to win. The meeting ended with the score 6:2 in favor of the hosts.
On March 7, Shesterkin was recognized as the third star of the past week in the NHL. The Russian helped his team to win three victories in three matches. Shesterkin saved 95.5 percent of shots and conceded an average of 1.67 goals per game.
In the current NHL season, 26-year-old Shesterkin has played 38 games, 28 of which ended in victory. In total, the Russian spent 85 meetings for the Rangers. Shesterkin has been playing in the NHL since 2019.
