The authorities of Barcelona Sporting Club described as fruitful the meeting they held with the Conmebol delegation that visited the Monumental Banco Pichincha stadium on Friday, March 4, with a view to organizing the unique final of the Copa Libertadores that will take place in the fiefdom of the canaries on October 29.
“All meetings and visits have been fruitful and work has been coordinated by Selim Doumet (head of Asoguayas), who is in charge of leading everything related to the single final from the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF)”, Munir Massuh, president of the Barcelona SC Stadium Commission, told EL UNIVERSO.
This Conmebol delegation is responsible for all the details and aspects related to the unique final of the 2022 edition of the Copa Libertadores, from the management of the stadium field to the legal team, in charge of formalizing all the agreements and other necessities for the execution of the event.
During the visit to the Monumental they inspected various sectors of the enclosure and examined the adaptation work that has been carried out since January after the first recommendations reported by Conmebol.
Images released by the club show the entity’s delegates taking note of what was examined in the dressing room area and also on the pitch.
Massuh revealed that the emissaries of Conmebol left happy and optimistic after verifying the good condition of the field, although there are plans to improve it.
“Yes, however, we must wait until after the visit we have a report where we will formally know all the issues that must be worked on prior to the event,” said the head of the Barcelona SC Stadium Commission.
When Barcelona SC receives said report, the directors will find out if the team has to change venues to play its LigaPro Serie A or Copa Libertadores tournament matches at home, if later the squad will continue in competition to reach the instance final, as they are currently fighting to advance from the play-off phase 3 to the group round.
One of the important advances in the work occurred in the north general location with the removal of the electronic scoreboard for the installation of a more advanced one, now in the south general location, with the novelty that the screen will be rotating. (D)
