Young people will analyze the future of sustainable cities in Ecuador, prior to the UN-Habitat World Urban Forum

The international initiative Youth2030 and its local allies, Diálogo Diverso and Museo Otavalango organize the Youth2030 National Urban Forum to be held on March 12 and 13, in the cities of Otavalo and Quito, respectively.

During these days, dozens of young people from the country will meet to raise needs, expectations and responses to local problems, and promote solutions that allow the country to move towards a model of sustainable cities, with the support of new generations.

Representatives of public institutions, companies and social organizations will also participate in the meeting, with the aim of promoting synergies through different working groups with young people.

Leading up to this event, youth have been preparing with trainings, surveys, focus groups, and interactive activities to spark meaningful conversation and drive new agendas that require sustainable action.

The Youth2030 National Urban Forum It will culminate on Sunday, March 13, at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, with a global DeclarAcción on youth and sustainable urbanization. Said document will become part of the general proposal that will be presented, in the eleventh UN-Habitat World Urban Forumin June 2022.

Youth 2030 is a UN-Habitat youth-led sustainable urbanization initiative, which aims to strengthen the voice and participation of young people by developing their capacities to engage meaningfully with community organizations and local governments to create sustainable cities.

Currently, it is in six countries around the world: Cali, in Colombia; Quito and Otavalo, in Ecuador; Accra, in Ghana; Jaipur and Bhubaneshwar, in India; Dakar and Thiès in Senegal, and Da Nang in Vietnam. (I)
