On Thursday, UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against the Paris Saint Germainits president, the Qatari Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and its sporting director, the former Brazilian player Leonardo, for the behavior of the leaders after the elimination of the French club in the round of 16 of the Champions League.
The process is based on article 11 of UEFA’s disciplinary rules, on “general principles of conduct”, and article 15, which punishes “misbehavior of players and officials”, a spokesperson for the organization told AFP.
According to the Spanish press, Al-Khelaifi and Leonardo had an “aggressive behavior” and tried to invade the referees’ dressing room after PSG’s 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid, which decreed the elimination of the French team from the Champions League.
The leaders contested the first of Karim Benzema’s three goals, claiming that goalkeeper Donnarumma was fouled at the origin of the bid.
The process could lead to suspension and fines for Al-Khelaifi and Leonardo for “not respecting the referee’s decisions” and for “unsportsmanlike behavior”.
