Coach Karpin expressed hope that soon Russian football will return to the international arena
The head coach of the Russian national football team Valery Karpin commented on the signing of a new contract with the team. His words are given on the website of the Russian Football Union (RFU).
Karpin said he was happy to continue working with the Russian team. He expressed hope that soon Russian football will return to the international arena and the team will be able to participate in official matches. The coach also thanked the RFU and Rostov for giving him the opportunity to combine work in two positions.
Karpin’s new contract became known earlier on March 10. The agreement with the specialist has been extended until the end of 2022. It is noted that Karpin will be able to combine work with the position of the head coach of Rostov until the moment the Russian team returns to play in the international arena.
Karpin will lead the national team in the summer of 2021. Under his leadership, the national team reached the play-offs for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but due to FIFA and UEFA sanctions, they lost the opportunity to take part in the tournament. Prior to that, the coach led Rostov for four seasons.
