Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates) won the fifth stage of the Paris – Nice which was held this Thursday March 10 Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert and Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut (188.8 km). Primoz Roglic (Jumbo – Visma) put on the leader’s jersey.
McNulty attacked in the penultimate port within a group of 10 escaped to ride alone to the finish linecontaining the momentum of the pursuers and the main pack, where Roglic and Nairo Quintana (Arkéa – Samsic) were among others, not so Wout Van Aert (Jumbo – Visma), who could not defend the yellow jerseyand his leader Roglic kept it.
The American cyclist who won the stage was 1’58” ahead of Frank Bonnamour (B&B Hotels) which was second, since matthew jorgenson (Movistar), which finished in third position. The group of favorites to win the final victory crossed the finish line 5’43” behind the winner.
In the general classification, Primoz Roglic ranks first with a 39-second lead over Simon Yates (BikeExchange – Jayco), and from 41 seconds on Pierre Latour (Total Energies). Ion Izagirre (Cofidis) finished the stage in 18th position after crossing the finish line in the pack of favorites to win the race, and it is 10th in the general classification, 2’01” behind the leader Roglic.
