Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin said that WADA has no claims against Russia
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has no claims against Russia in terms of anti-doping rule violations. The Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin spoke about this on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.
“The country has been recognized as 100 percent compliant with absolutely all conventions. Violations are detected by us,” Matytsin said. He added that WADA recognized that Russia has one of the most effective anti-doping systems.
Earlier, WADA urged to continue testing Russians for doping. Athletes will be tested both in Russia and abroad. The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has confirmed the ability to timely deliver doping samples to accredited laboratories in Europe. Also, Russian athletes should continue to provide information about their whereabouts.
At the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, the banned substance trimetazidine was found in a doping test of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. The International Olympic Committee and WADA sought to remove the athlete, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport allowed her to compete, where she took fourth place.
