The 28-year-old Russian tried to scare the opponent by making a sharp movement of his head. Sandhagen remained calm. The fight between the fighters will be the co-main fight of UFC 267. The tournament will be held in Abu Dhabi on October 30.
Also on October 28, another Russian, Islam Makhachev, had a battle of views with his opponent Dan Hooker from New Zealand. Glover Teischera and reigning light heavyweight champion Jan Blachovic will face off in the main event at UFC 267.
Initially, Ian’s rival was supposed to be UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling. However, the American withdrew from the fight, citing health problems.
Ian lost his title to Sterling in March. Then the Russian lost by disqualification.
