The Poland national football team has automatically qualified for the finals for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This was reported on the website of the International Football Federation (FIFA).
“The Bureau of the FIFA Organizing Committee has decided that the Polish national team advances to the Path B final, which is scheduled for March 29, 2022,” the organization said in a statement. In the last play-off, the Polish team will meet with the best in the Sweden-Czech Republic pair.
On March 7, the Russian Football Union filed an appeal against the decision of FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to remove Russian national teams and Russian clubs from participation in international competitions. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) accepted the appeal on March 8.
Due to FIFA and UEFA sanctions, the Russian national football team lost its chances to participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The team was supposed to participate in the play-offs for reaching the World Cup. National teams of Poland, Czech Republic and Sweden expressed their unwillingness to play with Russian players.
