Rangnick confirms Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury and says Cavani is still unable to play

Manchester United had a bitter weekend. Without being able to count on Cristiano Ronaldo, injured, the team was thrashed by Manchester City, in a duel valid for the English Championship, and Ralf Rangnick commented on the absence.

In statements to Sky Sportsthe German coach confirmed that the Portuguese was not in a position to play in the derby and what remains is to trust his team from the Medical Department.

“I have to trust my medical department. The doctor came to talk to me on Friday morning, before training. He said that Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t train because of some problems with his hip muscles,” he said.

Another issue that came up was about Edinson Cavani’s condition. According to Rangnick, the athlete is not yet ready to enter the field.

“Edi trained the last three days. He trained well, but he still felt after these three training sessions that he is still not fit to play”, he revealed.

“As a coach, I can’t force a player to play if he doesn’t feel fit or well enough to play.”

With the defeat in the English, the Reds are out of the G-4. With 47 points, the team is fifth, behind Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and leaders Manchester City, with 69.

Before deciding on a spot in the Champions League with Atletico Madrid, United hosts Tottenham for the 28th round.
