The head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Dana White, praised the idea of holding a boxing match between the organization’s champion Francis Ngannou and British heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury. White is a guest on the podcast
My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox.
The promoter said that Ngannou would not be able to oppose anything to a professional boxer in the ring. “This is a very bad idea, especially for Francis,” White said. He also added that Ngannou’s ability to knock out in the octagon in a fight with Fury will not help.
“Deontay Wilder also has a powerful punch, so what?” he said. White recalled the defeat of the American puncher in the fight with Fury.
Ngannou made his first title defense at UFC 270 in January with a win over contender Cyril Gan. After the fight, he reiterated his readiness to fight Fury under the rules of boxing.
