We knew that in the mixed competition in Oslo we would not fight for anything more than sixth place. But what we saw in Friday’s contest just might be speechless. The Polish team took the penultimate seventh place, and they lost 359.2 points to the first Slovenia, which is a total of … 200 meters! 157 were missing the podium.
Kinga Rajda recorded a total of 106.3 points in both jumps, and Nicole Konderla … 50.1 points. In total, Polish women gathered 156.4 points, that is … In unofficial results it would give 26th place out of 32 starters. But the men didn’t show off either. He jumped 122 and 116 meters – this gave him the 20th place individually. jumped 123 and 117.5 meters (individually 11th).
It is hard to say that our jumpers were tired or saved for the Saturday competition, because on Friday they gave up training series. They were supposed to treat the competition of mixes a bit more training, but it seems that they were too relaxed about the competition. After all, Poland only overtook Canada, weakened by the lack of Alexandria Loutitt, who jumps at the Junior World Championships in Zakopane, and they were behind Finland, which had only seven jumps – Jenny Rautionaho was disqualified in the first round for the ladies.
Mockery of fans in Oslo
So it makes sense to put our team into this competition. Because in the case of Piotr Żyła it was obvious that his thoughts were completely outside the hill. There was no sign of professionalism in him, as shown by even a jump in the second round. ya flew only 116 meters and ostentatiously flopped on two legs. In fact – to put it bluntly – he failed this competition. And the fact that he did not approach the competition concentrated, he admitted himself.
– My jumps did not look like I would like, but what to do. You wanted these jumps to be “better”, but I had problems. Tomorrow I will take a little more, today I came this way and I did not know what awaited me here. And nothing cool awaited me. Also tomorrow I will be more prepared for what will happen on the hill – said Piotr Żyła bluntly.
Interestingly, on Thursday, Żyła had no idea that the Raw Air series had a place for the mixed teams competition at all. – You surprised me, I did not know at all that there is a mixture here and still on Friday -.
Kamil Stoch was the most professional for the competition, who also did not have a good day (only the 11th result individually). – Competition is competition. I perform in front of the audience and on television. That’s why you want to jump as best you can – said the jumper, clearly dissatisfied with the results of the mixture.
Maybe you need to expose those who want to jump?
and Łukasz Kruczek should consider whether to put players into a mix competition at all in the future. Or maybe you have to put up those jumpers who want to jump and compete in a given competition?
The Friday mix contest was broadcast by the nationwide TVN station. You can bet that the most faithful fans of jumping watched it and after such jumps or the words of Zyla, they could feel simply deceived.
