The rules of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) do not allow the Russian Paralympic Committee to challenge the decision to exclude Russian athletes from the Beijing Games in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This is stated in the statement of the committee, published on the website.
The organization emphasized that the IPC acts in accordance with its Code of Rules. It states that the IPC may, in its sole discretion, at any time deny entry to any athlete without giving reasons. It is noted that the committee came to such a decision after consulting with lawyers.
On March 3, the IPC refused to allow Russian athletes to compete at the 2022 Games. The decision was changed due to the fact that the national committees opposed the participation of Russians in the competition. Russia called the decision illegal.
Games will be held from 4 to 12 March. 71 athletes from Russia were supposed to take part in the competition.
