Russia has been invading Ukraine for a week now. The situation is not getting any better, quite the contrary. Every day, soldiers and civilians die, other Ukrainian cities are more and more damaged. The attacks of the Russian troops continue.

Meanwhile, Alla Gilenko, a representative of Moldova, who was born in the Chernihiv region, recorded a short video. There she supports Ukraine, which she represented at the beginning of her career. It also shows that the Russian flag was the only one that was lowered down by the organizers of the IBU Biathlon Cup competition.

– Greetings to all of Ridnaun who are getting ready for the IBU Biathlon Cup. Here are the flags of all countries. Here is the flag of Moldova – the country for which it is displayed. But I am Ukrainian and my motherland is Ukraine. And now is the war. And see Ukraine – this is the flag of our state. And now thank you, Italy, for what they did with the aggressor’s flag. Thank you to Italy and praise to Ukraine, Gilenko said.

Gilenko has been starting biathlon since 2011. In 2012 and 2013 she took part in the world junior championships. She even won the bronze and silver medal for Junior in the relay race. She also won the relay race at the Junior European Championships.

In December 2016 it turned out that Gilenko could obtain Moldavian citizenship. Two years later, she issued a passport. In February 2022, she was on the Moldavian delegation to the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
