Morales has been linked to that MMA company and to the Entram Gym, in Tijuana, since he emigrated to Mexico last February.

In recent weeks, five fighters from the ranks of the Ultimate Warrior Challenge México (UWC) company: Silvana Gómez, Michael Morales, Cristian Quiñónez, Manuel Torres and Genaro Valdez, achieved their ticket to the major leagues with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

All of them received the invitation to the Dana White’s Contender Series combat program and, with the exception of Gómez Juárez, made their entrance to the UFC with resounding victories in the series that takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. While Evil Gomez, less than a week away from her contest at the Contender Series, received the opportunity to jump directly into the octagon to face Mexico’s Guadalupe Godínez (6-2-0) at UFC Fight Night 195.

The first to win his ticket to the UFC was the Ecuadorian Morales (12-0-0), who just a few months ago made his UWC debut, and on September 21, he reported the Kazakh Nikolay Veretennikov (9-4-0) by unanimous decision. .

From there it was the turn of Valdez (10-0-0), who on October 5 discounted Patrik White (9-2-0) by technical knockout at 44 seconds of the second round to continue the Entram Gym split.

And just Tuesday, October 26, was the opportunity for both Torres and Quiñónez at the UFC Apex, and before the eyes of the UFC boss, Dana White, to make it clear that the two are Mexicans with serious pretensions.

Torres (11-2-0) stopped Kolton Englund (9-3-0) in 2:10 minutes of the fight, while UWC bantamweight champion Quiñónez (15-3-0), won by unanimous decision to Long Xiao (16-6-0).

The only UWC veteran who did not achieve the coveted contract with the UFC was José Alday (13-6-1), who was overcome by split decision by Saimon Oliveira (18-3-0), this on September 7.

“Sincerely a warm congratulations to all the UWC fighters who were called up to the Contender Series, something that marks what we have said for a long time: that the UFC’s eyes are on our events.

“And, well, obviously a bigger congratulations to the five who won a contract in these months, and we know that Alday will soon receive another opportunity to show his own as their fight was very close,” said Alejandro Islas, president of UWC, in statements. collected by the UWC Press Department.

Islas confirmed that the company’s next event to be broadcast on UFC Fight Pass will be on Friday, November 26, in Tijuana, where two Ecuadorians will see action: lightweight Aarón Cañarte (7-0-0), in a duel with Mexican Iván Maya (4-5-0), and also lightweight Javier Basurto (18-7) who will make his league debut against a contender whose identity has yet to be revealed.
