Along with the development of Russia’s military operations, the number of casualties is increasing, especially of the civilian ones. This also applies to athletes and, unfortunately, such situations will probably occur more and more often. The Ukrainian Football Association informed that the footballer Dima Martynenko was killed as a result of the bombing.

The footballer FK Hostomel was at his home when a Russian bomb fell on him. His mother, who also did not survive the attack, was there with him.

Martynenko was the biggest star of FK Hostomel, which is a semi-amateur team from the second division Kyiv-Sviatoshin. He was the team’s top scorer in the league, but also the best player of the entire tournament last season.

Currently, due to the invasion of Russia, football is suspended. Most of the foreign players have already left the local clubs. Among them was also a football player and Polish representative Tomasz Kêdziora, who fortunately managed to evacuate from Ukraine on Sunday.
