With goals from Mahrez and Grealish, City beat Peterborough to advance to FA Cup

This Tuesday, the Manchester City visited Peterborough, currently bottom of the second division, in a duel valid for the round of 16 of the FA Cup. Pep Guardiola’s team won 2-0, with goals from Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish, both in the second half.

Now, City awaits the definition of the clashes of the next phase. The draw will be held this Thursday.

Manchester City returns to the field next Sunday, for the 28th round of the English Premier League. The team will have the local classic against Manchester Unitedat 1:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Etihad Stadium.

The game – In the first half, the panorama was drawn with City dominating possession and the hosts defending with low lines. Despite this, the visitors were unable to create great scoring chances, while the only shot on target was from Peterborough.

In the second half, Pep Guardiola’s men managed to open the scoring, with the first correct finish, in the 15th minute. Phil Foden advanced through the middle and triggered Riyad Mahrez on the right. The Algerian took it to his left leg and hit the back of the net.

Seven minutes later, City reached the second goal. Phil Foden received in midfield, took off a great shot in depth for Jack Grealish, who dominated and hit the goalkeeper’s exit.

The visitors still missed a great chance to make the third at the end, in a move that Laporte finished wide in front of goal.
