England referee boss apologizes to Everton for unmarked penalty

English football head referee Mike Riley has apologized to Everton manager Frank Lampard and club president Bill Kenwright. The contact between them is due to the unmarked penalty against the Manchester City last Saturday the 26th.

According to the “Sky Sports News”, the highest-ranking referee in England called the manager and president of Liverpool’s blue team. The move in question was a handball by Spanish defensive midfielder Rodri in which neither the field referee nor the VAR saw enough evidence to award the penalty.

Like the “Toffees” fighting relegation, currently in the 17th position of the English Premier League, that point would be crucial in that objective. After the game, Lampard did not hide his frustration and spoke about the poor performance of the referee in that confrontation.

“I have a three-year-old daughter at home who can say it was a penalty. It’s incompetence at best, if not, someone needs to explain what it is. We lost a point because of a professional who can’t do his job. It’s so incompetent to err like that”.

The call came shortly after a formal complaint was sent to the FA (Football Association), the highest football body in the country, about the incident.
