Fleeing the war in Ukraine, some Brazilian players who play in the country began to arrive in Brazil. This Tuesday morning, Pedrinho and Maycon, revealed by Corinthians and currently at Shakhtar Donetsk, landed at Guarulhos Airport.

“It’s too early to talk about going back, everything has happened now, what I want most is to be with my family, with my parents. Every time I spoke to them, I always said goodbye, because I didn’t know if it would be the last time. So I want to get home, be with my daughter. These were regrettable scenes and I hope that no one goes through this”, declared Pedrinho, who was moved when he arrived in Brazilian territory.

Currently 23 years old, Pedrinho joined Shakhtar in July 2021, after a brief spell at Benfica. The striker’s contract with the Ukrainian team runs until mid-2025.

Meanwhile, Maycon has been with the Donetsk team longer. The midfielder arrived in Ukrainian football in 2018, leaving Corinthians straight there.

“It was a mixture of feelings, of sadness, of terror, of all the words that demonstrate this, and then a relief, a gratification for having managed to leave, all well, without any fright,” said Maycon, who has a contract with Shakhtar. until the end of 2025.

In addition to the two former Corinthians players, Dodô and Fernando, who are also Shakhtar athletes, arrived in Brazil today.

Since Russia started the military attack on Ukraine, Brazilian players have banded together to try to leave the country. Athletes from Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kiev were escorted by UEFA after taking trains and buses to leave the country.
