Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera, from Paris Saint Germain, had his wallet stolen on Tuesday while driving through the Bois de Boulogne region, west of the French capital, he told AFP the player’s team.
The publication Point revealed hours before that a PSG player had been the victim of a robbery, information confirmed to AFP by a police source, without specifying the identity of the affected person.
According to the source, the police received a phone call around 8 pm, for the “simple robbery, in his car, of the wallet” of a PSG football player.
“There was no violence,” he told the AFP the player’s team, detailing the circumstances of the robbery.
“Ander Herrera was returning from the Parc des Princes [estádio do PSG, próximo ao Bois de Boulogne], where he participated in a ‘workshop’, a series of operations with Paris Saint-Germain sponsors, as happens several times throughout the season”, he explained.
“To return home, I passed the Bois de Boulogne, and at a traffic light, a person got into his vehicle and grabbed his phone and wallet, which were in plain view,” he added. “So Ander Herrera said: ‘I’ll give you 200 euros, but give me back my wallet and my phone’, then he left the person a little further away and called the police”.
The source said that if the player had anything to blame, in this traditional enclave of Parisian prostitution, he would not have notified the police.
