It was requested to avoid the charge for the time of stay of automobiles in the vehicle retention centers while the computer problem lasts.
That the fines generated in the registration process for vehicles with plates ending in digit 9, which correspond to said procedure this month, exhorted the National Transit Agency (ANT) to the municipalities of the country, in the face of the computer attack to the Axis system.
“The ANT will adjust the computer system to accommodate the exoneration process,” the entity said in a statement.
In the same Resolution No. 076-DE-ANT-2021, signed on October 25, the entity suggested to the decentralized autonomous governments, the Ecuadorian Transit Commission and the Police to exempt themselves from the charge for the time of stay of cars in vehicle retention centers for the duration of the computer problem in the ANT system. “In this case, the owners will be able to sign agreements to retire the cars and pay later, the entity added.
The executive director of the ANT, Adrián Castro, said that this measure is due to force majeure and declared the computer systems and database that make up the National Traffic Registry in emergency, in order to resolve the situation. “The law says that the errors of the public administration cannot be endorsed to the citizen, therefore it is necessary to exonerate the values of these surcharges,” he said.
On October 21, the computer attack on the ANT’s Axis system was reported. As of that date there are complications in the work flow of the provincial directorates and decentralized autonomous governments for the fulfillment of procedures such as issuance of licenses and vehicle registration plates.
The ANT formed an institutional committee on computer crisis for the management and resolution of the emergency in the systems that make up the National Registry of Traffic, Transportation and Road Safety. (I)
