The IOC announced the condition for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the starts

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the condition for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the starts. The application is available on the organization’s website.

“Citizens of Russia or Belarus, whether individuals or teams, should only be accepted as neutral athletes or neutral teams,” the statement said.

The IOC recommended depriving athletes from Belarus and Russia of the right to compete at international competitions against the backdrop of Russia’s special military operation in the Donbass. The executive committee of the organization motivated this recommendation by the desire to ensure the protection of the integrity of global sports competitions and the safety of their participants.

Earlier, on February 28, the president of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), Luc Tardif, spoke about the likelihood of exclusion of the ice hockey federations of Russia and Belarus from the organization. According to him, no decision has been made yet.
