State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev appreciated the decision of the International Football Federation (FIFA), which imposed sanctions on the Russian Football Union (RFU). His words are quoted by Sport24.
The parliamentarian called FIFA’s decision unfair and unreasonable. Svishchev stressed that football should not be related to political events and conflicts between countries.
Earlier, FIFA imposed a number of bans on the performances of Russian football players under the auspices of the organization. In particular, the country’s national teams will not be able to play in Russian stadiums. Meetings of the Russian national teams will have to be held on neutral fields and without spectators.
Also, Russian football players will be banned from playing under the national flag, the ban will also affect the national anthem. Athletes will compete under the auspices of the Russian Football Union (RFU).
