The English Football Association (FA) announced on Sunday that it will not allow any of its teams at any level to face Russia in response to the Russian army’s invasion of Ukraine.
The FA justified this measure “in solidarity with Ukraine and to condemn unreservedly the atrocities committed by Russian leaders”, according to a statement.

This decision was announced after Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic, possible opponents of Russia in the playoffs for the world Cup in Qatar, they announced in the last few hours their refusal to face the Russians.
“We will not play any planned international matches against Russia in the future … including matches at adult, youth or Paralympic football,” the FA insisted in its statement.
Russia is qualified for the women’s Euro, which will be played in July in England.
The FA’s decision was announced almost simultaneously with FIFA’s resolution to ban the Russian flag and anthem from its competitions, as well as withdraw the country’s international matches from Russian territory.
