France will not play in Russia
The World Volleyball Federation (FIVB) is preparing unchanged for the August World Cup in Russia. – The FIVB is working closely with the Russian volleyball federation and organizing committee in preparation for the various volleyball and beach volleyball events to be held in the country.
Now the decision to play at the World Cup in Russia was made by the French, the current world champions.
– The safety of our fellow citizens is our priority and we will do everything in our power to ensure them during national or international competitions. In this context, and at this stage, France will not take part in the World Cup if its organization is kept in Russia, said Eric Tanguy, president of the French Volleyball Federation.
Tanguy also added that the trips of French athletes and teams playing in European cups in Ukraine and Russia have been canceled.
The volleyball world championship is scheduled for August 26-September 11. The tournament will host ten cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Yaroslav, Kazan, Ufa, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo and Krasnoyarsk.
In the first phase of the tournament, the Poles will play in group C in Novosibirsk. Our rivals will be: Bulgaria, Mexico and the United States. The Polish team will defend the world title they won in 2014 at the tournament in Poland. Our players defended him four years ago during the tournament in Italy and Bulgaria.
