The french volleyball team, reigning olympic champion will not participate in the next World Cup-2022, expected in the summer (boreal) if the competition remains in Russia, The French federation announced this Saturday.
“The safety of our fellow citizens is our priority and we will do everything possible to guarantee it during national or international competitions. In the current context and situation, France will not participate in the World Championship if its organization is maintained in Russia.”, the president of the FFV, Eric Tanguy, declared in a statement.
The International Federation (FIVB) has not commented for now on the maintenance of this competition or its relocation to another country.
The FFV also decided to cancel any displacement of French teams to Ukraine and Russia of European competitions.
Poland, a country bordering Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, has already demanded that Russia be withdrawn from the organization of the eventwhat It should start on August 26.
