Levante beats Elche at home, but remains in the bottom of Espanyol

This Friday, the Levante beat Elche, at home, by 3 to 0, for the 26th round of The League. José Luis Morales, Jorge De Frutos and Gonzalo Melero scored the goals at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.

Despite the result, Levante remains in the bottom of the Spanish Championship and has 18 points – two less than Alavés. Elche, who has 29, occupies the 13th position in the table.

Levante returns to the pitch on March 7, when they visit the Athletic Bilbao. Elche, in turn, faces the Barcelonaat home, on the 6th.

The game – Levante, coached by Alessio Lisci, opened the scoring in the 38th minute, with Morales. The midfielder was triggered by De Frutos, in a quick move, and finished high, in the right corner of the goalkeeper. The ball hit the crossbar and then hit the net, putting Francisco Rodriguez’s team at a disadvantage.

In the complementary stage, the hosts extended the score in the 22nd minute, with De Frutos, who took advantage of the inattention of the rival defense and only completed it to the back of the goal. At 44, Melero received a low cross from Dani Gomez and, from inside the small area, sealed the 3-0.
