Russian stages of the world series in synchronized swimming and diving canceled

Scheduled for April 8-10 in Kazan, the stages of the world series in synchronized swimming and diving have been canceled. This was reported on the website of the International Swimming Federation (FINA).

It is noted that the decision was made after consultations with the athletes, as well as the national federations. In addition, on March 8, the game of the men’s World Water Polo League Russia – Greece will not take place in St. Petersburg.

The statement said that the competition, which should be held in Russia at a later date, is under close scrutiny and has not yet been canceled. In the second part of the season, Kazan is to host the Junior World Swimming Championships, the World Short Course Swimming Championships and the World Swimming Cup.

Earlier on February 25, the IOC called on sports federations to cancel or reschedule competitions from Russia and Belarus. According to the statement of the organization, the countries violated the Olympic truce. The IOC does not plan any events on their territory and gives absolute priority to the safety of athletes. The executive committee of the organization also recommended that sports federations not fly flags and not include the anthems of Russia and Belarus in all competitions.
