Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev reached the final of the tournament in Dubai. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.
24-year-old Rublev was stronger than the Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkach in the semi-finals. The match lasted two hours and 23 minutes. The meeting ended with a score of 3:6, 7:5, 7:6 (7:5) in favor of the Russian.
Rublev’s opponent in the final of the tournament will be determined on February 25. In the second semi-final of the competition, the Czech Jiri Vesely, who had previously beaten the current first racket of the world Novak Djokovic, and the Canadian Denis Shapovalov will meet.
On February 24, Rublev defeated American tennis player Mackenzie McDonald in the quarterfinals. The match ended with the score 2:6, 6:3, 6:1 in favor of the Russian.
Rublev is ranked seventh in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings. The best result for a Russian was the fifth line of the rating in September 2021. At the 2020 Tokyo Games, Rublev became the Olympic champion in the mixed doubles together with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
