Philipsen wins the fifth stage after winning the sprint and Pogacar continues to lead

Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin Fenix) won the fifth stage of the UAE Tour which was played this Thursday between Ras al Khaimah Corniche and Al Marjan Island with a distance of 182 kilometers. Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) kept the leader’s red jersey.

Philipsen, the green jersey of the peloton, did not give rise to doubts, who credited an enormous superiority in the finish line despite being left without a pitcher due to a breakdown. He attacked from a distance and settled the debate by raising his arms a second time. Second place went to Olav Kooij (Jumbo Visma), and the third for Sam Bennett (Bora Hansgrohe).

No changes in the general. In the end the leader Tadej Pogacar suffered a puncture, but the defender of the title was towed by his teammates to the noble zone of the peloton, so he did not lose a second. The Slovenian leads Filippo Ganna by 4 seconds (Ineos) and in 14 to Aleksandr Vlasov (Borah). Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious) and Óscar Rodríguez (Movistar) remained in the top 10the Biscayan seventh and the Navarrese eighth.
