Rafael Nadal, winner of 21 Grand Slam titles, is on the preliminary list of entries for the Miami tournament, which will be played at Hard Rock Stadium from March 23 to April 3.
Nadal, who is playing the Acapulco tournament this week, the first since his historic triumph at the Australian Open, is part of a list published by the Miami tournament that also includes the Russian Daniil Medvedev, the German Alexander Zverev or the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The Spaniard was a five-time finalist in Miami, the last in 2017, when he lost to the Swiss Roger Federer.
Serbian Novak Djokovic is also on the previous list of entrants, but his participation is still shrouded in doubt, since current regulations in the United States prevent access to visitors who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine.
Djokovic, winner of twenty Grand Slam titles, was unable to participate in the last Australian Open due to not being vaccinated.
In the women’s circuit, the Spanish GarbiƱe Muguruza and Paula Badosa make up a list of participants with stars such as the Romanian Simona Halep, the Japanese Naomi Osaka, the American Sloane Stephen, the Polish Iga Swiatek or the Belarusian Victoria Azarenka. (D)
