What does Pele mean to you?

“Pelé means soccer. Since when I understood what soccer was, I’ve always heard Pelé’s name. If it was on the street, on the court, if it was in high school, if someone dribbled three players and scored a goal, someone would say : “Damn, he scored a goal by Pelé’. I listened to my entire childhood. Pelé for me is the king of football, he is the ultimate idol in Brazil. It’s a great respect I have for him. Brazil is recognized worldwide today in football because of him. We are very blessed that Pelé is Brazilian.”

What record would you like to achieve in football?

“I think it is the goal for the Brazilian team. I think this is one of the goals I would like to achieve because it is one that is for my country, it is the team that I represent, the nation that I was born. So, it would be something that I wouldn’t have the expression to say, I don’t know, I wouldn’t be able to express everything I would feel if I reached that goal.”

How do you feel about getting back to playing with one of your best friends now that Messi is on PSG?

“I’m very happy. In addition to being a football idol, an ace and a genius, he’s my friend. So, when you have friends on your side, everyday life becomes lighter, calmer. We hope we can make history together like we did at Barcelona.”

Which player has impressed you the most since you came to PSG?

“Mbappé and Verrati. Mbappé is very fast, he’s young and he’s a great player. Verrati, I knew he was a great player, but I didn’t know he was so spectacular, so brilliant. Today I say firmly that he was a great player. of the best midfielders I’ve played with, along with Xavi and Iniesta.”

Outside of football, who is your sport idol?

“It’s Michael Jordan. He’s a guy I’m inspired by. I think we have similar stories. I’m very inspired by him and by things he’s been through. Things he’s said. So, he’s one of the idols I have. .”

When you finish your career, would you think about becoming a coach?

“Man, no. I don’t think about being a coach, far from it. I don’t know what I’m going to do, I haven’t decided. And I’m still far away. Let’s wait a little longer.”
