The US wanted to grant residence permits to whistleblowers providing information about doping use in Russia. This was reported on the page of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) in Twitter.
The corresponding initiative was made by the representative of the Democratic Party Steve Cohen, he submitted a bill to the United States Congress.
“We must be on the side of courageous people who are willing to risk their well-being to protect clean sports, the rights of athletes and the principles of fair play,” said Congressman USADA head Travis Tygart.
During the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, the banned substance trimetazidine was found in a doping test of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. The International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency sought her suspension, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport allowed the Russian woman to compete, where she took fourth place.
