Two-time world champion Irina Slutskaya criticized the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach for his words about the coaches of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. She spoke in the release of the YouTube channel “Edition”.
“Listen, he would sit in his homeland and be silent. Can I be so rude? When they drowned, when Valieva was lynched all these few days, Thomas Bach sat calmly on his priest,” Slutskaya replied.

The athlete also noted that Olympic champions do not have soft coaches. According to Slutskaya, her coach Zhanna Gromova screamed and used physical force. “It’s okay – alive, healthy and with two Olympic medals. How else is that? Slutskaya added.
Bach made a number of statements about the situation around 15-year-old Valieva. In particular, he condemned her coach Eteri Tutberidze for a cold reaction to the rental of an athlete during a personal tournament at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. In addition, he admitted that the IOC did not want to see Valieva among the participants in the Games.
