Russian figure skaters were awarded for winning the team tournament

Russian figure skaters were awarded for winning the team tournament at the Olympic Games (OI) in Beijing. On Monday, February 21, the correspondent of Lenta.ru reports from the awards ceremony at the VTB Arena stadium in Moscow.

Thus, the Champions of Our Hearts awards were presented to figure skaters Victoria Sinitsina, Nikita Katsalapov, Anastasia Mishina, Alexander Gallyamov, Mark Kondratyuk and Kamila Valieva.

During the ceremony honoring the Olympians, figure skater Anna Shcherbakova and skier Alexander Bolshunov raised the Russian flag to the national anthem.

The Russian team consisting of Sinitsina and Katsalapov, Mishina and Gallyamov, as well as Kondratyuk and Valieva won the team tournament.

Russian athletes won 32 medals in Beijing, including six gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze medals. Thus, domestic Olympians have updated the team’s record at the Winter Olympics and surpassed the results of the Games in Sochi. Skiers brought the most medals – they have 11 awards, in second place are figure skaters with six awards, in third place are biathletes, who have four medals.

The Beijing Games ended on February 20. Domestic athletes competed under the auspices of the Russian Olympic Committee.
