The shell hit a border checkpoint in the Rostov region on the border with Ukraine. This was stated at the Center for Public Relations of the FSB, TASS reports.
According to the department, on Monday morning a projectile fired from the territory of Ukraine hit a border checkpoint 150 meters from the border. The building was destroyed and no one was hurt.
Meanwhile, NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said that Ukraine was not involved in the shelling. According to him, we are talking about the “Russian task”, which in Moscow allegedly “set itself a long time ago.”
“But our military can respond, fire back only if there is a threat to the lives of our military… We do not carry out these attacks, we have nothing to do with them… The desire of the Russian Federation to provoke us into active actions will not come out,” Danilov emphasized .
He called false allegations that Ukraine allegedly shelled the territory of Donbass that is not under its control.
“Our task is very simple: peacefully return the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation. We cannot conduct military operations against part of our population (in the self-proclaimed LDNR – ed.),” the head of the Security Council explained.
According to him, Kiev “welcomes all issues to be resolved through diplomacy.”
In turn, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine called reports of the shelling of a border checkpoint in the Rostov region “a deliberate provocation.”
On the night of Saturday Moscow time, US President Joe Biden announced his confidence that the Russian leadership had already decided to attack Ukraine. In the event of an invasion, Washington and European countries threaten the Russian Federation with harsh sanctions.
