Earlier, on February 21, Valieva summed up the results of the Games in Beijing. “My first Olympics is finally over, and I want to thank those who led me to this most important event in the life of an athlete – my coaches: Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze, Sergey Viktorovich Dudakov, Daniil Markovich Gleikhengauz,” she wrote. According to the 15-year-old figure skater, they not only train her, but also teach her to overcome herself, which helps not only in sports, but also in life.

Valieva failed to keep the lead after the short program and took fourth place in the individual figure skater tournament at the Beijing Games. A doping scandal broke out around her during the Olympics. Her test dated December 25, 2021 tested positive for the banned drug trimetazidine. The World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) sought to remove the figure skater, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport allowed Valieva to participate in the individual tournament at the Games. At the same time, the IOC postponed the award ceremony following the results of the team tournament, where Valieva became the winner as part of the Russian team.
