“After the Beijing Olympics and all the horror that happened there, it became clear that euthanasia should be applied to the current format of the Olympics. The modern history of the Olympics in the format of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) ends because this organization does not do its job, ”said the deputy. He said that instead of promoting sports to the masses and holding fair competitions, the IOC is engaged in politics and attempts to put international pressure on individual countries.
Milonov expressed confidence that in the future the sanctions, following Russia, will extend to other independent states. “We need to call the Greeks and say: “Guys, they all screwed up, let’s restart the Olympics.” It is necessary to create a new IOC, where there will be representatives of different states, so that they have a single independent position, and not the state position of the State Department, as is happening now, ”he stressed.
Domestic athletes competed under the auspices of the Russian Olympic Committee. They won 32 medals in Beijing, including six gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze medals. Skiers brought the most medals to the team – they have 11 awards, figure skating is in second place with six awards, biathlon is third – four medals.
