Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov spoke about the performance of the Russian team at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.
“Our Olympians are great, everyone gave their best. Some succeeded, some didn’t. Of course, we all want all the medals at the Olympics to be ours, but this is impossible, ”the Kremlin spokesman said. Peskov noted that one should rejoice both at the victories of domestic athletes and their rivals. According to him, this contributes to the development of sports and the ideas of Olympism.
Russian athletes won 32 medals in Beijing, including six gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze medals. Thus, domestic Olympians have updated the team’s record at the Winter Olympics and surpassed the results of the Games in Sochi. Skiers brought the most medals – they have 11 awards, in second place are figure skaters with six awards, in third place are biathletes, who have four medals.
The Beijing Games ended on February 20. Domestic athletes competed under the auspices of the Russian Olympic Committee.
