The Spanish Rafael Nadal, maximum winner of Grand Slams with 21, assured this Sunday that there are different arguments to choose the best tennis player in history.
In addition to Nadal, the Swiss Roger Federer and the Serbian Novak Djokovic, both with 20 titles, appear in the media pools to proclaim the best of all time, a debate that has been enriched by the Spaniard after winning the Australian Open .
“In the end we have done more than we could have dreamed of. I’m sure of it. It ends up being to the taste of each one because there are different arguments for that title that they like so much, all of them could be valid, it depends on the perspective they put on, ”she said.
In a press conference before debuting at the Acapulco Open, an ATP 500 tournament with five of the top six in the standings, Nadal said that the twenty-first Grand Slam title changed nothing in his life.
“I hadn’t played for a long time and that is more important to me than anything else. I’m happy about Australia, which was unexpected, but nothing is going to change the most important things,” she noted.
Referring to Acapulco, he described the debut as complicated, against the American Reilly Opelka, number 20 on the world list, and hoped to get ready in the two remaining training sessions.
The winner will meet in the second round with the best between the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, 26 in the ATP, and the American Maxime Cressy (59).
“After Australia I had to analyze how the body would respond, at the level of pain it is responding more or less well. That led me to the decision to come. I am happy to play tennis regardless of the results,” she added.
