The head coach of the Russian national team Alexei Zhamnov commented on the team’s defeat in the final match of the 2022 Olympic tournament in Beijing. His words are quoted by Sport24.
“Our team, probably, something did not work out. In principle, the team fought to the end, ”the specialist assessed the game. He congratulated the Finnish team on the victory and thanked the local players for their perseverance. Zhamnov added that he would like to continue working with the Russian team.
Earlier, on February 20, the Russian team lost to the Finnish team in the final match of the Olympic tournament and won the silver of the 2022 Games in Beijing. The meeting ended with the score 2:1 in favor of the Finns.
After that, the president of the Russian Hockey Federation, Vladislav Tretyak, said that Zhamnov would continue to work with the national team and would prepare the team for the World Championship. Zhamnov was appointed head coach at the end of September 2021.
