The ski marathon at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing has been postponed by an hour due to bad weather. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
The start of the competition is scheduled for 10:00 Moscow time. In addition, the distance will be reduced from 50 kilometers to 30 kilometers due to the risk of frostbite for the athletes. The reason was a squally wind at the venue of the marathon.
Earlier, commentator Dmitry Guberniev in his Telegram channel announced the possibility of rescheduling the marathon. He stated that an assault warning had been issued in Beijing.
The Russian team in the marathon will be represented by Alexander Bolshunov, Ivan Yakimushkin, Artem Maltsev and Denis Spitsov. Bolshunov won two gold medals, one silver and one bronze at the Beijing Games. On account of Spitsov gold in the relay and silver in the skiathlon.
