The IOC will discuss the issue of participation of minors in the Olympic Games

President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach said that the organization will discuss the issue of participation of minors in the Olympic Games. It is reported by TASS.

According to Bach, the problem requires careful discussion and consultations. The issue will be considered together with representatives of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), as well as international and national federations in various sports. He admitted that federations could increase the minimum age for participation in the Olympics.

Bach previously admitted that the IOC sought to deprive 15-year-old Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva of the right to participate in the Games after the release of information about a dubious doping test. However, he said that he respects the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), according to which the skater was allowed to participate in a personal tournament. On February 17, CAS confirmed that a microdose of a prohibited drug entered the body of an athlete by accident and could not affect the results of Valieva.

According to the results of the personal tournament, Valieva took fourth place. She did not manage to get into the number of prize-winners, despite the leadership after the short program.
