Jacek Kurski failed, but TVP still has an ace up his sleeve

The second league in Canal + is quite a surprise, because in recent weeks it seemed that television rights. The club presidents, as well as Piotr Szymaski, the chairman of the GKS (Gwna Street Sports Commission) talked about it. TVP itself sought the rights to broadcast all kinds of hive competitions.

“I suspect that the matches of the Polish street national team will be sent to TVP”

For now, of the important street events, the national broadcaster only has the rights to the SEC, the individual European Championship, which is the entrance to the Grand Prix. But that might still change. Or at least there are claims that I cite Jacek Gajewski – a TV expert and former manager of Get Well Toru and Czstochowa, who, in his opinion, may have one more ace up his sleeve. – I suspect that the matches of the Polish street national team will be sent to TVP – says Gajewski.

– From the point of view of TVP, this is the optimal solution, because we are talking about individual events for which you do not need to build a team to handle them from scratch. This can be done by the way. these hives will not lose. Especially if it is possible to show these meetings to a wider audience – adds Gajewski.

TVP did not fight until the fall to show the second league

Gajewski is also not particularly surprised that TVP did not fight until the fall to show the second hive league. – Some disciplines in Poland have been assigned to specific stations for years. This is the case with the volleyball or the basketball shown by Polsat. This puts teams out there that can handle it all. You don’t need to build from scratch. If TVP were to take over the entire league beehive, the creation of such structures would still make sense, but from the beginning we were talking only about the second league. Taking one small element out of such a large puzzle was not very logical, argues Gajewski.

u. Last year, the station signed a record contract with PGE Ekstralig in force in the years 2022-2025. He pays 242 million zlotys for broadcasting rights, or about 60 million zlotys a year.
