The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) spoke about the state of figure skater Kamila Valieva after the short program at the 2022 Games in Beijing. The head of the organization, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, is quoted by TASS.
Pozdnyakov said that the skater feels good. “Camila is all right, she is preparing for a further performance,” he said.
The skater’s free program will be shown on February 17. The start of the competition is at 13:00 Moscow time.
Valieva became the leader in the short program on February 15. For the rental, the 15-year-old athlete received 82.16 points. She did not appear at the press conference following the results of the short program. The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) said that the skater felt unwell.
On February 14, the IOC announced that it would refuse to award medals based on the results of the individual women’s tournament if Valieva was among the winners. The athlete passed a positive doping test on December 25, 2021 and is participating in the Olympics following the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
