Klopp highlights Firmino’s performance as false nine: “They’re going to write books”

Liverpool made history last Sunday by thrashing Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford, in the Premier League. One of the players most praised by Jurgen Klopp after the match was Roberto Firmino. The German coach highlighted the way the Brazilian “interpreted the false nine position”.

“He played, once again, very well. Salah gets a lot of attention, deservedly, but Firmino, for people with football knowledge… I’m sure that when he stops playing, people will write books about him. interpreted the position of false nine”, highlighted the coach at a press conference.

“I’m not saying he made it up or we made it up. There are different things to do on the field. Some of them are defensive, and what we did in that sector was insane. Firmino knows how much we appreciate what he’s doing and maybe that’s the most important thing,” he added.

Liverpool return to the field next Wednesday, when they face Preston in the round of 16 of the English League Cup. In the Premier League, the team hosts Brighton on Saturday, at 11 am (GMT).
