Four-time Olympic champion Norwegian Emil Hegle Svendsen Twitter commented on the defeat of the Russian biathlon team in the relay race at the Beijing Games.
“All my thoughts and experiences are now connected with Eduard Latypov, I was in the same situation in 2014,” the ex-athlete wrote. He urged the Russians to take care of the biathlete who lost the gold of the competition.
Earlier, on February 15, Latypov spoke about his emotions after the failure in the final segment of the relay at the Beijing Olympics. The Russian admitted that he did not experience psychological pressure when his team was in the lead. According to the biathlete, he did his job.
In the final leg of the relay Latypov failed shooting and was forced to run two penalty loops. Prior to this, the Russian team was in the lead and claimed gold medals. The winners of the race were the Norwegians. Second place for the French team.
